The Fall of a Great Nation?

Many people refer to America as a democracy, perhaps the greatest democracy on earth. This is really not correct, as America is not an absolute democracy. America is really a constitutional republic.

An absolute democracy is a political system in which the majority enjoy absolute power through the use of democratic elections. Without the restraint of a constitution, the majority can vote to impose whatever they wish with minority opposition. In other words, the majority can vote to elect those who can deny the minority their God-given rights. Our founding fathers recognized the danger of this and chose the constitutional republic alternative. Thomas Jefferson referred to absolute democracy as elected despotism. The founding fathers did not fight for any absolute democracy government. They fought for a constitutional republic.

America a Democracy?

Constitutional Covention

A constitutional republic, in contrast, is a political system in which the head of state and other officials are elected by the people as representatives of the people. A reference system, or constitution, is written that establishes the absolutes against which decisions are made. Three branches of government are set up: executive, legislative, and judicial. These, in turn, work together to hold all three accountable to the constitution. The constitution, it turn, is written referencing some type of absolute standard. In America this was the Bible. It doesn’t mean all the founding fathers were Christians, it simply means the constitution was written to use the Bible as the reference standard. In Egypt, their constitution at the current time was written using the Sha’aria as a reference.

The founding fathers wisely used the constitutionally divided powers of the government to limit elected officials from imposing their tyranny on the people.

Unfortunately, today the elected officials have successfully manipulated those that elected them to create enough dependency for them to hold on-going power through democratically held elections. We have reached a point where almost every American is slave to the government.

We are currently living through the paramount form of elected despotism that our founders so presciently sought to forestall. At some point during the progressive era of the early 1900?s, elected officials began to deviate from the constitution in a dramatic fashion. At present, we find all of our founding principles under assault. Many prominent political leaders in both parties seek to destroy our free markets, infringe upon our personal liberties, and abrogate our social values. Unfortunately, they have accrued a high level of success. Moreover, they have prosecuted this revolution without firing a shot. Instead, they have used the soft edge of the sword of elected despotism.
Daniel Horowitz

In addition, many political leaders who say they are abiding by the Constitution and misinterpreting the Tenth Amendment to promote tyranny on a state level as well as the Federal level. This is particularly true of the blue states.

Pure democracy cannot subsist long nor be carried far into the departments of state. – it is subject to caprice and the madness of popular rage.
John Witherspoon

Article 4 section 4 of our Constitution guarantees each state a Republican form of government.

It is incumbent upon each of us to restore our Constitution as the supreme law of the land and that our God-give rights in the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, and not revoked. This involves particularly some courageous stands on the part of the churches , economic systems, and our education institutions particularly. In my church we spend a LOT of time teaching both kids and adults what you read here and what our founding fathers really did.

Toynbee, the famous historian, pointed out that 19 out of 21 civilization have died from within. They died not by conquests from without, but from within. He tells us that there were no bands playing or flags waving when these civilizations decayed. It happened slowly in the quiet and the dark when no one was aware of what was happening. In America this could happen within your generation.

What is God asking you to do about this?

Vanderbilt University Boots a Christian Group

Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt Medical School Entrance - author: Dansan4444

Vanderbilt University has been getting a LOT of bad publicity lately on their decision to shut down a Christian small group of students that has been meeting on the campus. Citing a “separation of church and state” as the reason (the college is not even a government school), The university is illegally violating the principle of free speech that is part of the foundation of our Constitution.

I had a chance this weekend to talk with two of the medical students from Vanderblit, one of which was home for the holidays in Portland. The group has continued to meet and now meets off-campus. This is extremely bad publicity for the University. Poor educational leadersh8ip for the students.

At the same time in Washington our Dorky president is using your tax dollars to rebuild mosques in the Middle East and sending 20 F-16 military jets to Egypt, who has a Constitution based on the Shariah.

This post is not copyrighted – share it as you will on Facebook, Twitter, or your own blog and website. Write the University. Also let your Congressional representatives know about this and the other dorky stuff going on in Congress and by the President. Impeach, fire, and jail if they can’t follow the Constitution.

Essential Changes Needed in Washington – Part 1

Congress has an approval rating of 9% as I write this. For the latest number, see:
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/congressional_performance

The same Rasmussenreports at this time shows 53% totally disapprove of how the President is handing his job and only 47% approve.

Disaster. Time to send all of them home even before the next election.

Time to changeFreddie Mac and Fannie Mae are running on a 170 billion subsidy of your tax dollars, and they then turned around and paid out 12 million of that to their executives as bonuses. Who is holding these people accountable for spending my money? (This is from Fox News, but the numbers vary depending on whether you are reading O’Reilly or other speakers, but they are all about the same.)

Solyndra got a government loan of over $500 million (that’s over half a billion) from the taxpayers and quickly went bankrupt. As we got closer to the November, 2010 election, the Administration panicked when Solyndra (seeing that their company was collapsing) planned to announce layoffs. The Administration urged them to hold off until after the election, and loaned them more money to do that (The Oregonian, 11/16/2011, p. A2). That is politics, corrupt politics. Where did all the money go and what was the political back-scratching in this? Who is being held accountable for spending MY money like this?

Bank of America got help from the government with loans, but is letting 30,000 workers go. They did, however, give $11 million in severance pay to Joe Price and Sallie Krawcheck. Who is holding those execs at Bank of America accountable for spending my money?

RooseveltThe government (that’s you, if you are a US taxpayer) loaned GM 50 billion (that’s billion) to get turned around when they were making Hummers – a useless car for the American consumer when the gas companies were sticking us for gasoline ($1.81 to almost $4 a gallon during the reign of Obama). GM had placement ads on CSI with the hero driving a Hummer around. Meanwhile, Toyota developed the hybrid car and had a hard time keeping up with the demand for awhile. That 50 billion we gave GM was for equity stock, so the taxpayers own GM. To break even, the government would have to sell 365 shares at a profit, putting the break-even point at $55 a share. Right now GM sells at $28.90 a share. That’s a loss of $11 billion of your money, and don’t expect it back any time soon. GM has lost a lot of brand value in this, and Ford is doing a better job without taking the government money. For more info, see:
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/06/10/truth-about-gm-bailout/#ixzz1d2d7F9n0

You are also losing money with taxpayer loans to Chrysler, AIG, etc. and don’t expect to see that again or anyone held accountable. At least with the President and Congress we have now.

The government (that’s you, if you are a US taxpayer) loaned Goldman Sachs (more popularly known as Golden Sacks) several loans, one of which was $589 billion. Then, last January, they announced they were paying their employees $15.3 billion in bonuses (almost half-a – million per employee). They needed the money, they said, because “they were too big to fail”. Other banks, emulating the failed Golden Sacks, emulated that behavior to get loans and to paid bonuses. If they were too big to fail, the government should have broken them down to smaller banks. This was done with AT & T some years ago. Today, however, the executive and legislative branches of our government are owned by Wall Street and the corporations and the President and Congress are too wimpy to stand up for the taxpayer. The bonuses for this year will be announced January 20, 2012. Watch the numbers and the banks named when they are released – other banks will copy this. And who goes to prison? (This is from multiple Golden Sacks-related sites.)

Since these payments that these banks and corporations are all done with virtual money printed by the government, the value of each dollar in circulation is less. This is called inflation. More accurately, it’s a crime and forbidden by the US Constitution. (http://creatingnewworlds.org/2010/08/19/reform-1-demand-that-we-restore-the-broken-economic-system/ ) Gas went from $1.81 a gallon at the beginning of Obama’s rein and is now almost $4 a gallon (http://gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx). Parking at my school went from $3 a day last year to $4 a day this year. My business license went from $50 to $100 a year. The price of a tiny sack of Lay’s chips went from $.99 to $1.50 a few weeks ago (OK, it’s got a few more chips in it.). The government hasn’t increased the Social Security payments to account for inflation in two years, saying there has been no inflation. They lie. Next year the SS payments go up $38 a month. That is a joke.

And Social Security? This is currently set up as a pyramid scheme. Now, with the boomers retiring, in a few years the younger adults entering the workplace won’t paying enough to support the retiring boomers. Start by putting Congress on Social Security and Obamacare with no pensions.

Don’t give up – here are suggested strategies. (Don’t give up, it will take a few decades to clean out the junk that is there now. It took a long time for the system to crash.

Essential Changes Needed in Washington – Part 2

Changes are made by visionary people, people who are willing to stand up, speak out, and be courageous. The steps listed here are great, but the people who step us and take the necessary action steps.

Our country was founding by strong moral people that believed in God and were willing to risk there lives to give us the freedoms we have. Now a bunch of yahoos in Washington are committed to destroying all that. It’s time changed things. We need visionary leaders that are willing to stand up and restore what has been lost.

“One of the things that is sorely lacking in our lives is a necessary level of courage to stand up against the things we know are wrong, and FOR the things we know are right. There has been a lot of complacency – it feels more fear-based to me.- where people, especially in organizations are too afraid to speak up and we have become, I believe, moral cowards in a way. We give all sorts of reasons why we can’t speak up. …I think people have developed a sense of helplessness about it. …But I also live with the awareness that if we don’t start speaking up we are going down a road that will only lead to increased devastation, and destruction.”

Write your congressman (or woman) and ask then for a Congressional Reform Act:

Congressional Reform Act of 2012

1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Ask the President to Institute the Economic Leadership and Banking Reform He Promised Us When Elected
The President had a choice when it came to reform. He could have chosen Paul Volcker as his Treasury Secretary and taken the path endorsed by Volcker and Elizabeth Warren: Restructuring the big banks, imposing regulatory reforms (such as the Glass Steagall Act, which would have prohibited Wall Street gambling with derivatives), and a possible tax on Wall Street transactions (especially those derivatives). Instead he chose another route and sold out to Wall Street. Obama made weak choices and is now watching everything fall. All of this needs to be fixed.

Ask Your Congress and the Government to Make the Investment in Education to Train Leadership for the Global Market We Have Today.

The job market needs strong employees but America has gone soft. The WEF report (World Economic Forum) rates America as 51st in science and math education. America has dropped to #5 in global competitiveness in most areas behind Sweden, Singapore, Finland, and Switzerland. In rating the efforts to improve our competitiveness over that last decade, America is next to last. There needs to be more investment in our technical education and financially helping students. Pell Grants and related programs are needed for students today. These can be paid for by taxing the wealthy yahoos that got us into this mess. Disconnect the Congress and President from K street.

In addition, China is a leading company when it comes to hurting our economics and job market. First, it manipulates its currency to promote imports. Increasing tariffs on imports is not the strategy, as we are members of the World Trade Organization. Where we do have control, however, is in the intellectual property area. China is famous for forcing American companies to give up intellectual rights to products in return for reaching the large Chinese market. Companies, such as GE, are famous for agreeing to do this. And there goes the jobs and production shifts to China. We need strong schools here for quality graduates, hold on to the graduates, and then hold on to the intellectual property rights.

On Jobs? Don’t buy from companies that give their technology away to China.

Many American companies want our government to raise tariffs on imported goods that destroy American jobs – particularly when the foreign government subsidizes those imports. A good example here is the companies producing solar panels in America, which are undersold by Chinese solar panels where production is highly subsidized. We’re in a global market. Keep things open and compete with the world. Our government subsidized Solyndra with over half-a-billion, only to see Solyndra go bankrupt as China subsidized their solar panel production. One of the problems is that American companies give away their intellectual property to China (for example) in return for getting the Chinese market, giving the company access to their huge market. And there go the jobs to China.

The biggest employer in Waukesha, Wisconsin, General Electric, just moved out. To Beijing. GE is moving its headquarters there and also investing $2 billion in China to train 65 of their engineers. They are also building six research centers there. GE also has moved a lot of its civilian avionics business to China in a 50-50 joint venture. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year and paid no taxes. Jeff Immelt. Chairman of GE, was appointed by Obama to head the government’s commission on job creation. – a job czar, so to speak. Huh? For which country is he creating jobs? Time to boot Obama.

Additional Things You can Do

  1. Know your representatives and Senators and how they vote. See http://www.votesmart.org/
  2. Know who is running in your selections. See http://www.votesmart.org/
  3. Meet those who are running – check their online schedules.
  4. Blog and use your social networking accounts to keep people posted. Write and publish your concerns. Communicate (email) with incumbents and those who are running. (Normal postal service is too slow, as mail has to be processed through scanners for security purposes.)

Circuit Court Judge is Afraid of Prayer

Although stopping the prayer is illegal based on the Bill of Rights, they are so afraid of the power of prayer that they ruled against it anyway.

Signs of Hope – 2: The American Educational System

When or forefathers birthed this country and wrote our Constitution, there was nothing in the Constitution that said anything about the nation’s educational system. They also added the Tenth Amendment that said if it wasn’t in the Constitution, the decision was left to the states and local government. The current involvement of the Federal government in our educational system is really not even legal. This corruption started with Horace Mann and persists to this day.

One college stands apart in it’s approach to higher education. It remains independent of politics and government control. The college is Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. From its charter:

Hillsdale’s educational mission rests upon two principles: academic excellence and institutional independence. The College does not accept federal or state taxpayer subsidies for any of its operations.

As a result, they are able to bring in some of the best of the leaders today in multiple disciplines to speak and then they publish these speeches. You can subscribe (free) to these speeches and/or surf their archives and read the words of these great men and women at Hillsdale archives. Speakers in the archives include Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and many other prominent leaders. There are almost 2 million people already reading these papers.

Begin your journey of hope here by reading the thoughts of these great men and women. Then start your free subscription. Donate if you can, but the gift is there for everyone, The Fall election of 2012 and before is a great time to hold your Congressional representatives and senators as well as the next President to the freedoms for other colleges and K12 that Hillsdale College is already embracing.

PS – Hillsdale College just won a rating from Princeton Review as one of the top 5 religious colleges in the United States. (Reed College here in Portland is rated in the very bottom five as least religious.) Another PS – if you read the comments on that page, you will see people reacting to the word “religious”. Great discussion question there. Being religious and following Jesus are two different things.

The Social Security Madoff Scheme

Why did Bernie Madoff go to prison? To make it simple, he talked people into investing with him. Trouble was, he didn’t invest their money. As time rolled on he simply took the money from the new investors to pay off the old investors. Finally there were too many old investors and not enough money from new investors coming in to keep the payments going.
social security
Madoff did to his investors what the government has been doing to us for over 70 years with Social Security. There is no meaningful difference between the two schemes, except that one was operated by a private individual who is now in jail, and the other is operated by politicians who enjoy perks, privileges and status in spite of their actions.

Bernie Madoff Social Security
Takes money from investors with the promise that the money will be invested and made available to them later. Takes money from wage earners with the promise that the money will be invested in a “Trust Fund” (Lock Box) and made available later.
Instead of investing the money Madoff spends it on nice homes in the Hamptons and yachts. Instead of depositing money in a Trust Fund the politicians transfer it to the General Revenue Fund and use it for general spending and vote buying.
When the time comes to pay the investors back Madoff simply uses some of the new funds from newer investors to pay back the older investors. When benefits for older investors become due the politicians pay them with money taken from younger and newer wage earners to pay the seniors.
When Madoff’s scheme is discovered all hell breaks loose.  New investors won’t give him any more cash. When Social Security runs out of money the politicians try to force the taxpayers to send them some more; or they will cancel SS to all those who paid into it.
Bernie Madoff is in jail.

Politicians remain in Washington …with fat medical and retirement benefits.

Here are a few “positive” notes:

  • Unlike with Madoff, it is a forced payment. Money is going to keep coming in.
  • The money going in does go to the General Fund, but is put in “locked box” account so that it can’t be used for other expenditures. If payments can’t be made from that, that fund has to borrow from somewhere. That will begin in the near future.
  • The elderly population is a strong voting force, and as the population ages this generation is getting larger and stronger. Politicians know they have to listen to them. At the time SS was set up,not very many people lived beyond the age of 65. Now it’s quite common for people to live much longer. The SS started as a major ripoff.

This is not saying that Social Security and even Medicare should be abandoned. Rather, that it was implemented wrong and illegally. The first amendment to the Constitution grants the citizens the freedom of religion, of speech, of the press, and the right to assemble. They didn’t means those were the only freedoms we had. To correct that impression, the tenth amendment was added that , essentially, said if it wasn’t restricted by the Constitution or the state, it was a freedom. There is nothing in the Constitution about Social Security, public education, and a host of other things that have been imposed o n us illegally. Moreover, the Constitution defined a procedure if we wished to add something like Social Security and these other things. That has been violated illegally.

Congress and the President have failed us. On the next election we can begin to clean some of this up. If the ones there are serious and want to stay there, they need to set the Social Security and Medicare up so that it operates legally and get the states to endorse it as an amendment. That means a little over a year to submit this to the states. Next, they need to put themselves on the same systems (Social Security and Medicare) they have us on. No pensions or fancy medical care. Anything short of this means they’ve endorsed Madoff’s pyramid scheme. And that isn’t legal.

You also probably noticed there hasn’t been in increase in Social Security payout to the seniors in the last two years. Yet the amount paid is supposed to increase with the cost of living. Everyone knows the cost of living has increased, so why is the government stealing from the seniors?

Isn’t it time our government was held accountable?

America’School System is Going to the Dogs

A school in Seattle won’t let a student call her Easter Eggs “Easter Eggs”.http://oregonfaithreport.com/2011/04/easter-eggs-renamed-spring-spheres/This teacher is REALLY dumb is she can’t read the Bill of Rights and know what it means. The girl can call those eggs whatever she wants. Time to shut the this school down if she can’t. Time to send a LOT of politicians home if they can’t honor the Constitution. We’ve got a Bill of Rights, and the government continues to ignore this.
