Do you have a ready defense of the gospel when faced with those about you in the secular world? Want to understand where an unbeliever might be “coming from”? In our post-modern society, more and more people reject God, sin and the need for redemption. How do we understand each other and reach people with the life-changing message of Jesus?Last weekend, I attended the Worldview Academy’s Christianity and Culture Conference at Southwest Hills Baptist Church here in the Portland Metro area. This training seminar prepares Christians to share Jesus in an increasingly secular culture and was open to middle school students and older. The conference teaches about the various worldviews that compete with Christianity, helps you become equipped with a biblical perspective on current issues, and you learn how the Bible is practical and applicable to every area of life. The speakers, Andrew Frye and Jeff Baldwin, were engaging and effective presenters.Their general program in the past has been leading camps for teenagers across the country during the summer and early fall. Thousands of teenagers attend these camps and are trained in understanding their worldview and how to lead from this in servant leadership. My church was presenting one of their pilot programs with a weekend teaser and sample courses that reached the teenagers and older members of our church and larger community. If this interests you, get more information at http://www.worldview.org. For those wishing a camp in Oregon, Worldview is sponsoring one in Salem on July 4-9. See their website for more information.
