Celebrities such as Madonna and Demi Moore are singing the praises of an ancient Jewish mysticism sect. I noticed some news items in which you could get a bottle of water from them for $2.50 that had been “prayed” over and now the water had healing properties. Said a certain university had done research to prove it. The reporter had checked with the university – no such research had been done. Now the interesting thing here is that if the research was ever done it would show healing could be experienced if you drank the water. You know why? Research has shown that if you have a vision of wellness, that vision affects and strengthens your immune system, and that in turn improves the possibility of healing. Don’t believe it? Read Dr. Berie Siegel’s Love, Medicine, and Miracles or my own book Catching the Wind. This is really true of almost any cult or religion. There is some level of power in the visioning. It has nothing to do with the truth of the cult or religion.Jesus knew this well, for he couldn’t do much in Nazareth, the Bible says, because of their unbelief. Jesus also said he was the way and the only way. There is no perfect healing without Him. Jesus provides the power and authority – much, much more than we could provide on our own.
